When was the last time you checked your hearing?

Did you know 1 in 4 people in the UK are affected by hearing loss? Or that only 1 in 20 of us have had a hearing test in any given year?

It's time to change this with simple and easy hearing care.

Introducing eargym - your hearing health companion

Looking after our hearing always starts with a hearing check. This is an important first step as it provides us with an understanding of our current hearing ability and helps to flag any issues as early as possible so that we can seek the appropriate support.

But which hearing check is right for you?

The eargym app has a suit of 3 hearing checks which can all be accessed easily from the comfort of your own home with just a smartphone and any pair of headphones.

  1. Our ear age check examines age-related hearing decline. It measures how well you hear high frequencies compared to others your age.

  1. Our hearing loss check looks for any sign of hearing loss. It measures your ability to detect and interpret speech in noisy environments.

  1. Our hearing profile check assesses your hearing strengths and weaknesses. It measures your hearing skills and their impact on your quality of life.

What do my results mean?

Your results for our hearing loss check will give you an indication on whether or not any hearing loss has been detected. Your score is based on your ability to accurately identify sequences of three digits being presented to you against a backdrop of noise. Your report will then provide further information on your results, including recommendations on how to best utilise our auditory training to strengthen your hearing and understanding in background noise.

If potential hearing loss is identified through the ‘Hearing Loss Check’, you are advised to seek medical advice and to receive a formal audiological assessment from a qualified healthcare professional, such as a GP or qualified audiologist. If you have any concerns about your hearing you should contact your doctor or see a professional specialist (e.g. an audiologist).

What's the benefit of regularly checking my hearing?

  • Early detection - Identify any issues which need further care as early as possible to help prevent further damage or decline.

  • Stay connected to loved ones - Monitor your hearing, and any changes over time, to keep up with the conversation and connected to those around you.

  • Enhanced safety - Track how lifestyle factors, such as noise exposure, affect your hearing to stay aware and informed.

  • Reduce brain fatigue - Often feel tired after long days of listening? Regular checks can help you maintain your best listening ability.
